Typewriter exhibition in Switzerland

This was great, and great fun! My friend Mark and i organized an exhibition at the Swiss SHBS International meeting in Appenzell, Switzerland. The topic was ... Swiss Typewriters! Focus was on smaller brands like Patria/ Swissa (Swiss branch of the Patria family) and Calanda, but also for example featuring Otto Petermann, of Swiss origin and creator of the Corona portable. We were able to present 7 models of "RUF" accounting machines as well. Quite a few people came to see the show, actually. Here is some impressions:

  1. What an impressively presented bunch of typewriters. Did any of he visitors give in to temptation and actually do any writing on them?

    1. The main attraction for all kids, youth and adults was the typatune. Our junior member even performed on both typatunes simultaneously. For myself, I found a Swissa piccola of a special shade I hadn't seen before - this was was repaired on the spot by one of our senior members.

    1. Thank you. The theme from Amélie is performed on a hammered dulcimer, which is also a traditional instrument in Appenzell where the exhibition took place.

    1. Thank you Richard. As always, there was little time, but I was really happy the way the exhibition turned out. Everything was in place, and people enjoyed it.

  4. That's an amazing exhibition! Very nice displays and ephemera as well. I think the only thing it needed was chairs and a supply of paper so people could type :D
